The title race is starting to take shape after a dramatic weekend of derbies in the Premier League, while the relegation battle still looks impossible to call as the season moves past its halfway point.

A number of standout performers made the difference for their sides over the weekend, with the best ones making Flashscore's Team of the Week.

GK - Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)

The goalkeeper was a crucial factor in Arsenal claiming a valuable 2-0 win over their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Ramsdale made seven saves and was named man of the match as the Gunners moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

DEF - Nelson Semedo (Wolves)

The Wolves defender has had his critics since arriving from Barcelona with lots of potential in 2020, but has seen a steady improvement in his performanes over the last few months.

Semedo was excellent at both ends of the pitch in Wolves' 1-0 win against West Ham and helped them to a valuable three points against potential relegation rivals.

DEF - Levi Colwill (Brighton)

Brighton stormed to a 3-0 win against Liverpool on Saturday - dominating the game with 62% possession and nine shots on goal compared to Liverpool's two.

While the attackers were at their best, Colwill provided a solid base for the team to build out from the back and caught the eye with both his passing and defensive work, keeping the likes of Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo quiet.

His form has even prompted talk of an England call-up.

DEF - Dan Burn (Newcastle United)

Another weekend has gone by where Newcastle have kept a clean sheet, this time in a hard-fought encounter against fellow high flyers Fulham.

While their attack struggled the break down Marco Silva's side, the defence were at their usual best with Burn excelling throughout.

The leftback was tasked with marking Willian - and stopped the Brazilian from making any real impact on the game.

DEF - Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

Manchester United came from behind to beat Manchester City 2-1 on Saturday. While a lot of the attention was again placed on the officials, Shaw quietly had a very good game in central defence alongside Raphael Varane.

The Englishman didn't look out of place during the match and played a big part in limiting Erling Haaland to just 19 touches over 90 minutes.

MID - Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)

While Ramsdale was heroic at one end of the pitch, Odegaard was just as important at the other end.

The Norwegian scored Arsenal's second with a fine finish from outside the penalty area, taking his overall tally to eight league goals for the season - on top of five assists.

Only Bukayo Saka has contributed more for the Gunners during the 2022/23 campaign.

MID - Casemiro (Manchester United)

One of United's most consistent performers across the season, Casemiro was superb in the Manchetser derby.

His presence in midfield helped United when their opponents started to dominate the ball, and the Brazilian even provided the assist for their equaliser - even if Bruno Fernandes wasn't the intended target of his through ball.

MID - James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

Ward-Prowse scored both goals in Southampton's 2-1 win against relegation rivals Everton, once from open play and the other from a freekick.

Saints' captain played in a more advanced role than usual which paid off in the end for Nathan Jones's side.

FWD - Solly March (Brighton)

March had a hand in all three goals during Brighton's 3-0 win against Liverpool, scoring twice and assisting once as the Seagulls recorded another impressive victory.

The winger has hit a purple patch over the last few weeks and his form is ensuring Brighton don't struggle in the absence of star man Leandro Trossard.

FWD - Brennan Johnson (Nottingham Forest)

Johnson netted both of Nottingham Forest's goals against Leicester City as Steve Cooper's side continued their resurgence coming out of the World Cup break.

The Welshman has now had a hand in all of Forest's three last Premier League goals and looks to be key to their survival hopes.

Special mention to Morgan Gibbs-White who set up both of Johnson's strikes.

FWD - Wilfried Gnonto (Leeds United)

Despite being on the losing side when Leeds visited Aston Villa on Friday, Gnoto caught the eye with his pace and tricky dribbling and was Leeds' best player on the night.

The youngster was instrumental to the majority of Leeds attacks and showed signs of a very promising footballer, tormenting veteran fullback Ashley Young all evening.
