Eric Dier has a long history in Portuguese football, having come up through Sporting's academy, before making the step up to the lions' first team before leaving for Tottenham. Now at the end of his contract, the England international admits wanting to return to Portugal and swears his love for the club.
"Sporting is my home. I played here from the age of eight to 20. It will always be my home," said the 29-year-old defender, speaking on the sidelines of the Web Summit.
Specifically regarding a return to Portuguese territory, Eric Dier left the door ajar: "Yes, one day.
"I'm still going to talk to my wife about it, but I'm certainly going to move back here. I want to live here in Portugal when my career is over, but I don't know if it's to play yet.
"But in football, you never know.
It's worth remembering that, after several seasons as Tottenham's figurehead, the centre-half has fallen out of favour since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, making just two appearances this season.
